Lihou Island, which can be reached on foot at low tide and is quite unique. The island is connected to Guernsey via a causeway from L'Eree. Lihou is known for its unspoilt environment, which supports a wide variety of wildlife. Over 100 species of bird, 26 of which are known to be at risk on a national scale, have been identified on the island. Visitors are advised to make sure they leave the island a good 20 minutes before the causeway is due to close, unless they want to be stranded overnight! Pack a picnic for this visit. Sandy Beaches at L’Eree and Rocquaine, both within walking distance Cliff paths for walking at Pleinmont point and a point of interest is the Table des Pions, otherwise known as the ‘Fairy Ring’. This stone circle has many rumours about it. Old wives' tales tell of performing a small ritual at the circle and receiving different rewards. One says that if you walk around the stones three times under a full moon and make a wish it is said to come true! Coach House Gallery Housed on two floors in a complex of farm buildings, this gallery displays contemporary watercolours and oil paintings by local artists and exhibitions of work by various artists from the UK. Studio and pottery workshop.
The island’s “West Show” takes place for two days on the second week of August, and is a largely popular event on the island. Traditionally an agricultural show, which has grown to include a funfair and visiting artists. Rocquaine Regatta last Saturday in July. Lots of beach fun—sandcastle competitions, tug of war, football, beauty contest and other local traditions.
